What prompted you to run for the board?
We recently lost about 50-plus years of experience on the board, so I felt that from an experience standpoint we needed to fill some of those vacancies with someone who has been in the district and worked with the board members who are staying, in order to keep some continuity.

What skills and experience do you bring to the board?
Membership on the Apex Foundation board of directors, chair of bond issue groups in 1998 and 2003. Being as involved as I have been over the last eight-plus years, I know the issues that the board has had to work with from a financial and management standpoint.

To move forward with the renovation and repair of Apex facilities, making them more inviting places with increased numbers of patrons; and to work toward more effective and productive relationships with other area government entities.

What prompted you to run for the board?
I ran for the board in order to continue the great work that the current board has done and help meet the needs of the growing district.

What skills and experience do you bring to the board?
I am currently in my second year as President of Arvada Midget Football. I have spent the last several years working with the Apex PRD sports staff and have acquired a general understanding of how the district operates, the personalities involved and their relationship with the city. Being involved with AMFA shows my ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals and drive them to a common goal. Football has given me the opportunity to become closer to the community and not only better understand the needs of the residents, but also that of the employees of Apex Parks and Recreation District.

My involvement has not been limited to football. My family has been actively involved in baseball, basketball and softball for over 30 years. Outside of sports organizations, I am also involved as a volunteer with the Arthritis Foundation; an organization dear to my heart.

What are your goals for your current board term?
I hope to bring some new ideas to drive the continued profitability for the next four years and beyond. In order to continue to meet the needs of all the users, this new board will be facing many challenges. My goal is to ensure that citizens of all ages are represented and that their needs are met. From pee-wees to seniors, I will listen and respond to the needs to the best of my ability.

What makes Apex PRD stand out from other recreation agencies?
The staff and their dedication to the community they serve.
