Food drive begins March 24

A spring food collection campaign to benefit the Arvada Community Food Bank starts on Monday, March 24 and continues through Sunday, April 20. Bring your donations to any Apex facility between now and April 20. Items that are particularly needed include canned fruit, canned vegetables, cereal, macaroni and cheese, rice, canned beans, and soup. Also needed are diapers, toothbrushes, laundry soap and pet food. (these important non-food items can’t be purchased with food stamps!) Now is a time of great need, according to Food Bank officials. First of all, it’s spring break, which means parents are more challenged to provide for their children who would normally get a free breakfast and lunch at school. Second, there are fewer food drives held during the warmer months vs. holiday times. Third, the demand on the Arvada Community Food Bank is up 11% in the past few months. We hope to fill the shelves at the Food Bank, with help from generous patrons and staff. Thanks for taking part!
